Rare white crocodile spotted in Australia’s Northern Territory

Image capture of video via CBS News’ YouTube account
    • A rare white crocodile named Pearl was spotted in Australia’s Northern Territory
    • Pearl was spotted by Wildlife Guide Mike Keighley along the Adelaide River
    • Pearl is not an albino crocodile, but suffers from a condition known as “hypomelanism”

A rare white crocodile was spotted by tourists in Australia’s Northern Territory last Monday.

The crocodile goes by the name of “Pearl” and was seen by tourists on a crocodile sighting boat tour along the Adelaide River.

Despite exhibiting a white complexion, experts say that Pearl is not an albino crocodile, but suffers from a condition known as “hypomelanism”.

This means that Pearl is more vulnerable in the wild “because it stands out from all the other crocs,” says Wildlife Guide Mike Keighley.

Keighley claims to have spotted Pearl nearly 5 weeks ago, before tourists started posting pictures of Pearl on the Internet.

Tourists were ecstatic to see such a rare creature reveal itself during their boat tour. Overall, they enjoyed the scenic landscape of the infamous Adelaide River found in the historical landmark of Litchfield National Park.

Check out Pearl, the rare white crocodile, in this Youtube video via CBS News down below:

Is Goblin’s hottest Korean Star Gong Yoo getting married?

    Image via k_drama811’s Instagram account
    • Gong Yoo wedding rumors started from a netizen’s post
    • Soop Entertainment, Gong Yoo and Jung Yoo Mi’s agency denied the rumors
    • Gong Yoo remains discreet about his love life

Avid fans often get curious about the love life of their favorite stars. They get thrilled to discover whether the celebrities they are admiring are still single, dating or planning to settle down soon.

How true is the wedding rumor that has been circulating online about Korean Superstar Gong Yoo and his co-star in the hit movie “Train to Busan” Jung Yoo Mi?

Well, it seems that a certain social media user caused some Korean Drama lovers to get stirred upon hearing talks that the actors’ agency had to release an official statement to clarify the truthfulness of the much-talked about news.

Soop Entertainment, the agency of the two actors, responded by saying: “The rumors about Gong Yoo and Jung Yoo Mi are totally false. From here on out, we will be taking firm legal action against rumors and malicious comments.”

Soompi, a South Korean entertainment website also reported that the rumors could never be true since Gong Yoo treats Jung Yoo Mi as “one of the boys”– which could be described as a relationship between two brothers.

The 38-year-old actor is actually very discreet about his love life. He doesn’t even have social media accounts like most of the stars. Thus, little do people know if he is dating someone, according to Kfanatics.

In his previous interviews, the Goblin heartthrob shared that he probably would settle down when he is already in his 40s.

Gong Yoo is popular for his roles in Korean dramas such as Coffee Prince, and Guardians: The Lonely and Great God; while Jung-Yoo Mi is known for her roles in Family Ties and Chaw. Both of them starred in the movies ‘Train To Busan‘ and ‘Silenced‘.

Group urges DOLE, BFP to conduct fire safety inspection on malls nationwide

    Image from SAP Bong Go
    • Labor group urged DOLE and BFP to conduct joint fire safety audit on malls nationwide
    • The TUCP said the two fires that razed a mall in Davao City and another one in Cebu City are symptoms of mall owners’ alleged disregard of building safety laws
    • The fire safety audit should coincide with the coming dry season when most fire incidents happen

In a span of just two weeks two major conflagrations razed two big shopping malls – one in Davao City and the latest one in Cebu City; prompting a group to call for a fire safety audit on all shopping malls in the country.

As mentioned in a Manila Bulletin story dated January 8, 2018, the labor group Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) proposed that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) should conduct a joint fire safety inspection of shopping malls nationwide in order to minimize fire incidents.

TUCP President Raymond Mendoza was outraged by the fact that 38 people died in the NCCC Mall in Davao City on December 15, 2017 and that 15 days after, a huge fire razed another shopping mall, this time in Cebu City.

“It is outrageous to see another fire taking place in Metro Ayala mall and Gaisano mall in Cebu City when just 15 days ago 38 workers perished in NCCC Mall fire in Davao City. These are not isolated incidents. There is a widespread violation of malls owners to fire safety standards and compromise the safety of mall goers and well-being of mall workers to cut costs and make bigger profit for themselves,” Mendoza said in a statement on Sunday, January 7.

He added that the Metro Ayala Mall and NCCC Mall fires are symptoms of mall owners’ alleged wanton disregard of building safety laws.

The spokesman of Alliance of Labor Unions- TUCP, Alan Tanjusay, said the fire safety audit should coincide with the coming dry season when most fire incidents happen.

    • A fisherman found the plastic drum that contained 24 kilos of cocaine along the shores of Juag Lagoon in Matnog town

A crewman of the Taiwanese cargo vessel that sank off the waters of Northern Samar at the height of tropical depression “Agaton” last week admitted to authorities that the cocaine found along the shores of Sorsogon came from their sunken ship.

The ship reportedly came from China en route to Chile, as per a GMA story dated January 5.

A fisherman from Matnog, Sorsogon identified as Robert Frado Galvez found a plastic drum floating along the shores of Juag Lagoon in Barangay Calintaan and turned it over to authorities without knowing what it contained.

Christian Frivaldo, a regional director of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, said 24 packs of cocaine bricks weighing at least a kilo per pack were found inside the plastic drum.

Based on the testimony of the unnamed Taiwanese crewman of M/V Jin Ming Nr. 16, a police official who spoke on condition of anonymity said the drugs were not intended for the country.

“The drugs were not intended for the Philippines but a country in Latin America,” the police official said.

12-year-old boy killed by “hit and run”; teen Chinese suspect apprehended with help of concerned motorists

Image capture of video by GMA News via YouTube
    • A boy was hit by an SUV driven by an 18-year-old Chinese along Roxas Boulevard on Wednesday night
    • The SUV left the scene in a hurry and was chased by motorists and authorities

A hit-and-run incident took the life of a 12-year-old boy in Manila on Wednesday night.

The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Chinese Joseph Shu who fled the scene but was apprehended with the help of other motorists.

A witness and one of the motorists who chased Shu’s vehicle said that the SUV slowed down right after the incident and seemed to be “thinking twice” before it decided to leave the scene and the poor boy.

John Oliver Vargas, the victim, was crossing Roxas Boulevard with another kid (unhurt) when he was hit by Shu’s Mitsubishi Montero.

Shu will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting to homicide.

According to the investigator, Senior Police Officer 2 Richard Borbon the incident was “aggravating” because he tried to escape responsibility from his victim.

“Abandoning injured person, eh lalo ‘to, namatay ang biktima,” Borbon said. [He abandoned an injured person, and much more, the victim died].

Shu, who was traveling with two family members and was reported to be sober at the time, refused to give a statement.
